POSITION: School Social Worker/ Student-Family-School Relations Liaison

                                                                                                                                                                                                               

Overview:  

The school social worker/ student-family-school relations liaison will address the psychological and social well-being of students, ranging from elementary school through high school. Information and support to students, families, and school staff will be provided to solve problems and promote maximum educational benefit to each student.

                                                                                                                                                      

Summary of Responsibilities:   

Help students cope with personal and psychological issues that affect school performance, behavior, and socialization.

Address issues relevant to students, families, and school staff, such as school attendance, behavioral issues, and adjustment to the social setting of the school.

Provide coaching and consultation to families and school staff to enhance the student’s full participation in school and positive educational experience.

When appropriate or necessary, provide information for outside support services or agencies to help students deal with economic, emotional or physical challenges.

Communicate with parents, teachers, and administrators to provide a full view of the issues facing an individual student or group.

Maintain case files and reports to document student needs and progress, and to recognize patterns in behavior.

Collaborate with other school professionals (school psychologist, school counselors, etc.) to assist in remediation through counseling, treatment plans, or workshops.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field and 2 years of experience in emotional wellness and educational support services

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, in a professional manner

Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and positive approach

Good organizational skills and time management skills

Computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and others as required

Fluency in Spanish preferred

 

Start Date: Position open until filled

 

Schedule and Hours: Public school schedule for 10 months (August through May)

 

Compensation: Competitive for qualifications and job role in the East Tennessee area
